Shaanxi Agricultural Waste Resource Utilization Engineering Technology Research Center is a provincial-level scientific research platform established by Northwest A&F University. It was approved and established in April 2020, forming an industrialization base integrating R&D and promotion, and providing a window for cooperative research and communication of agricultural waste resource utilization at home and abroad.

A technical committee has been set up by the research center to guide the development direction, main tasks and major issues in scientific research and development. The research center covers an area of 600 m² for testing ground, 1800 m² for research and development, and more than 200 related instruments with a value of more than 21 million yuan.

This center is mainly responsible for the research on the related technologies of resource utilization and harmless treatment of agricultural wastes, and the research fields mainly include: ① research on harmless treatment technologies of agricultural wastes and industrial development; ② aerobic composting technology research and industrial development of agricultural wastes; (3) research on forage technology of crop straw and industrial development.

Since the establishment of the Engineering Research Center, more than 30 papers have been published in journals such as Journal of Hazardous Materials, Science of the Total Environment, and two patents of "a bioactive protein feed and its preparation method" and "an auxiliary microbial agent production equipment for organic materials" have been obtained, and more than 40 doctoral and master students in related fields have been trained. The decomposition parameters of microbial agents and agricultural wastes were optimized, and the optimized microbial agents were used to produce high-quality bio-organic fertilizer. Excellent lactic acid bacteria for preparing bioactive feed were developed, and the technological parameters of crop straw feed were optimized.

Focusing on the goal of harmless treatment and resource utilization of agricultural wastes, we will reduce the pollution of antibiotics and heavy metals in livestock and poultry manure to soil and crops, further strengthen the innovation ability and transformation of technological achievements in the frontier fields of agricultural wastes and agricultural environment in northwest China, cultivate core technologies with independent intellectual property rights, train outstanding professionals in related fields at home and abroad, and promote international exchanges and cooperation.

The Engineering Center has formed a research team with strong comprehensive strength and rich experience. Researcher Gu Jie is the head of the engineering center. At present, there are 5 fixed scientific and technical personnel in the center, including 4 senior professional titles and 1 intermediate one.
